Add air quality monitoring to your projects with the Adafruit CCS811 Air Quality Sensor Breakout, a versatile gas sensor finely tuned for indoor environments.
This efficient sensor detects a broad spectrum of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and uses advanced technology to deliver Total Volatile Organic Compound (TVOC) readings and equivalent carbon dioxide (eCO2) levels via I2C interface.
It boasts a wide measurement range: eCO2 from 400 to 8192 ppm and TVOC from 0 to 1187 ppb, capturing data on Alcohols, Aldehydes, Ketones, Organic Acids, Amines, Aliphatic, and Aromatic Hydrocarbons.
Designed for easy integration, the sensor is mounted on a custom PCB in the STEMMA QT form factor, making it compatible with SparkFun Qwiic I2C connectors. This setup allows solderless connections and easy chaining with other sensors and accessories.
Configured with multiple drive modes, this sensor can take readings every 1, 10, or 60 seconds, or 250 milliseconds, depending on your project's needs. An interrupt pin alerts you when measurements are ready or threshold limits are crossed.
For optimal performance, run the sensor for 48 hours initially and 20 minutes in your desired mode each time you use it. Note that it requires a separate temperature sensor for precise environmental monitoring, as the updated chip does not include a thermistor.
Get started effortlessly by using our prepared software libraries in Arduino IDE or CircuitPython. This powerful sensor opens up opportunities for creating smart environmental monitoring systems.
