Breathe easy with the SGP30 Multi-Pixel Gas Sensor, a fully integrated MOX gas sensor designed by Sensirion. With I2C interfacing and fully calibrated output signals, it offers a typical accuracy of 15% within measured values. The SGP30 features multiple metal-oxide sensing elements on one chip, providing detailed air quality signals.
This sensor detects a wide range of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and hydrogen, ideal for indoor air quality monitoring. Connect it to your microcontroller to receive Total Volatile Organic Compound (TVOC) and equivalent carbon dioxide (eCO2) readings over I2C. Its standard hot-plate MOX sensor is complemented by a microcontroller that manages power, reads analog voltages, tracks calibration, and communicates via I2C without requiring clock stretching.
Specifications include an eCO2 measurement range of 400 to 60,000 ppm and a TVOC range of 0 to 60,000 ppb. While precise measurements require calibration against known sources, it provides reliable environmental trend data. It also features humidity compensation capabilities for enhanced accuracy with an external humidity sensor.
For easy incorporation into projects, the SGP30 is mounted on a custom PCB in the STEMMA QT form factor, allowing for simple interfacing. Its connectors are compatible with SparkFun Qwiic I2C connectors, enabling solderless connections and chaining with other sensors. The breakout board includes standard headers and supports both 3.3V and 5V systems, making it versatile for use with Raspberry Pi, Metro M4, or Arduino Uno platforms.
