Low-cost Lithium Polymer batteries have revolutionized electronics with their thin, light structure, ease of charging, and ability to be regulated to 3.3V. They are the backbone of most modern portable devices.
The Adafruit MAX17048 LiPoly/LiIon Fuel Gauge and Battery Monitor acts as a reliable indicator of battery status, displaying the percentage of remaining charge, just like the icon on your phone. By converting non-linear voltage data into an accurate battery percentage, it simplifies the complex calculations usually required.
Designed for versatile use, it is compatible with any microcontroller or microcomputer board via the I2C interface, from Arduino UNO to Raspberry Pi. The device effortlessly handles logic levels at both 3.3V and 5.0V.
To operate, connect a 1S 3.7-4.2V Lithium Ion or Polymer battery to either JST 2 PH port, then link to your system with a JST PH jumper cable. By using our Arduino or CircuitPython/Python library code, you can read voltage and percentage at your convenience.
The custom-made PCB in the STEMMA QT form factor enables easy connections, compatible with SparkFun Qwiic I2C connectors, making solderless interfacing and chaining with other devices seamless. Note, QT Cable is not included, but a variety is available in the shop for your projects.
