Circuit Playground Express elevates your electronics and programming ventures with a combination of enhanced sensors and straightforward programmability. This board improves on its predecessor with new features and more accessible programming options.
Choose from Microsoft MakeCode for block-based or JavaScript coding. Transition effortlessly to CircuitPython, which runs directly on the board. As your skills advance, explore the Arduino IDE for comprehensive hardware control. The board also supports Code.org's CS Discoveries right in your browser.
Circuit Playground Express includes 10 mini NeoPixels for customizable lighting, a motion sensor with tap and free-fall detection, a temperature sensor, and a light sensor that doubles as a color and pulse sensor. Experience sound interaction with a MEMS microphone and mini speaker with a class D amplifier. Dual push buttons, a slide switch, and an infrared receiver/transmitter enhance interactivity.
The board features eight alligator-clip friendly input/output pins with I2C, UART, and analog input capabilities. Seven pins support capacitive touch inputs, while the eighth serves as a true analog output. The ATSAMD21 ARM Cortex M0 processor operates at 48MHz, complemented by 2MB of SPI Flash storage for code and libraries.
Power it via USB, AAA battery pack, or Lipoly battery. The built-in USB interface requires no special cables or adapters, easily integrating with serial ports, keyboards, mice, joysticks, or MIDI systems. The round design with alligator-clip pads avoids soldering or sewing for operation.
