The MSA311 is a small and cost-effective triple-axis accelerometer, packing a plethora of features usually found in higher-priced models. It offers three-axis sensing, 14-bit resolution, and selectable scaling from ±2g to ±16g.
This sensor enables easy communication over I2C with a fixed address of 0x62 and also supports SPI. Sharing is a breeze with multiple sensors on the same I2C bus, thanks to the address selection pin. The MSA311 detects tap, double-tap, orientation, and freefall with a variety of data rate options from 1 Hz to 500 Hz. It operates efficiently with a low-power mode drawing as little as 2uA.
Our custom-designed PCB in the STEMMA QT form factor integrates seamlessly, thanks to its compatibility with SparkFun Qwiic I2C connectors. It includes a voltage regulator and level shifting, making it suitable for use with 3.3V or 5V systems, like the Raspberry Pi, Feather series, or Arduino Uno. Four mounting holes allow for easy installation, and standard headers are provided for use with breadboards or perfboards.
