Make inflatables or air-powered projects with this simple air pump. It's great for beginner projects and super easy to use! The pump is essentially a DC motor powered with ~4.5V, drawing about ~600 mA. Opt for 5V to maintain compatibility with other DC motors or servos.
The pump efficiently draws air from the side of the plastic casing and expels it through the tubing port. Please note that reversing motor polarity does not alter airflow direction, requiring two pumps to both inflate and deflate items. With a flow rate of 1.8 LPM and a max stall pressure of -55 kPa, it's not rated for continuous use. It's tested for up to 30,000 cycles at 10 seconds on, 5 seconds off, and is best with a duty cycle around 50%.
Ideal for engineers, makers, students, and artists crafting inflatable robots or art, you can modify the motor to adjust the flow rate, using PWM. It operates seamlessly with a power transistor or motor driver chip like the L293D and is compatible with the CRICKIT series. Minimize noise by placing it on soft foam or sponge to counteract vibrations. Remember, this is just the pump; silicone tubing is available separately. Keep in mind that it's strictly for air usage.
