Platinum RTDs, such as the PT1000, set the benchmark for precision temperature sensing. Crafted from a platinum strip with a resistance of 1000 ohms at 0°C, PT1000 RTDs excel in accuracy, stability, and repeatability, surpassing typical thermocouples and thermistors.
Key benefits include superior stability and precision, even under varying conditions, making them ideal for laboratory and industrial applications. These RTDs function effectively within a resistance range of approximately 500 to 2000 ohms.
For optimal performance, pair your PT1000 with an amplifier like the Adafruit RTD Sensor Amplifier featuring the MAX31865 breakout board, compatible with 2, 3, or 4 wire configurations. This setup ensures precise readings by compensating for wire resistance and connecting effortlessly to any microcontroller via SPI.
The breakout board incorporates a 4300Ω 0.1% reference resistor, a 3.3V regulator, and level shifting for compatibility with both 3.3V and 5V systems, such as Arduino. Additional features include a user-friendly assembly process with provided terminal blocks and pin headers suited for breadboards or perfboards. Note: PT1000 RTD sensor is not included but is available separately.
