Thermocouples excel in measuring temperatures exceeding 100 °C, crucial for applications like heaters and ovens. This bare wires bead-probe is designed to measure both air and surface temperatures with precision.
Unlike typical thermocouples with vinyl coverings that melt around 200 °C, this model features a durable fiberglass braid, ideal for high-temperature environments. A small heat shrink at the end prevents fraying, and it can be easily removed with a blade for temperatures above 250 °C.
This K type thermocouple supports temperatures up to 500 °C (900 °F) and includes color-coded wires extending 1 meter. It's compatible with thermocouple amplifiers such as the MAX31855, AD8495, or MAX31856, and we provide a comprehensive tutorial with CircuitPython and Arduino libraries, along with example code.
Note that some units may have incorrectly color-coded red and yellow wires. Connecting them backwards won't damage the device, but will cause reversed temperature readings. If readings decrease when heating, simply switch the wires.
