Adafruit Rugged Metal Pushbutton - 16mm 6V RGB Momentary

This chrome-plated metal button offers style and durability, featuring a full-color RGB LED ring light that adds flair to any project. Ideal for use with materials up to 1/4" thick, they include a rubber gasket for water resistance when installed in a 16mm hole.

The button's design includes a flat metal actuator encircled by an RGB LED ring with two gold contacts for the button and four for the RGB LED (one anode and three cathodes). Operate the LED ring between 3-6V, leveraging the built-in resistor. For 12V or 24V systems, incorporate a 1K ohm resistor to maintain an LED current around 20mA. PWM the RGB pins to create any desired color.

This momentary push button shorts the 'normally-open' contact to the common contact when pressed, returning to open upon release. With separated switch and LED controls, utilize a microcontroller to manage color changes and read the contact pins.
