Whether you're tracking ocean buoys, monitoring isolated pipelines, or managing high-altitude balloon missions, this module ensures you remain connected. Its compact and lightweight design makes it a perfect fit for systems integrators and product developers who face space constraints in their enclosures.
The unit features a small form-factor Molex connector for serial, power, and signaling, providing a secure connection while saving space. At its core is the Iridium 9603 modem, with the RockBLOCK board managing power requirements and offering a simple serial connection (UART) for easy integration with your microcontroller. Additionally, it includes an SMA connector for attaching an external antenna that suits your project's needs (antenna sold separately).
Satellite communication is now simple and flexible with RockBLOCK. It operates on a pay-as-you-go basis, eliminating the need for annual contracts. You only incur costs for the months you use the device, with line rental approximately £12 GBP (~$15 USD) per month. Message credits are managed through the RockBLOCK management system, which includes a built-in billing platform. While the device is initially locked to Rock Seven, it can be unlocked for use with other providers for a $60 USD fee per modem.
With the RockBLOCK 9603N, you are equipped to add global satellite communication to your most compact embedded designs, ensuring professional connectivity in any situation.
