The Qwiic Motor Driver can provide a steady state drive of 1.2A per channel and a peak of 1.5A. It also offers 127 levels of DC drive strength, making it an excellent choice for your small DC motor driver needs. However, as a 3.3V logic device, a logic level converter will be required to interface it to 5V.
The I2C address of the Qwiic Motor Driver is 0x5D and can be jumper selected to 0x58, 0x59, 0x5A, 0x5B, ... 0x63. This gives you a range of options to suit your specific project needs.
The Qwiic Connect System from SparkFun is a comprehensive ecosystem of I2C sensors, actuators, shields, and cables that simplify prototyping and reduce errors. All Qwiic-enabled boards use a common 1mm pitch, 4-pin JST connector, saving PCB space and ensuring correct, polarized connections.
The Qwiic Motor Driver is packed with features, including 1.5 A peak drive per channel, operation from 3 to 11 Volts (12V max), 3.3V default VCC and logic, 127 levels of DC drive strength, controllability by I2C or TTL UART signals, direction inversion on a per motor basis, global drive enable, exposed small heat sink shape, several I2C addresses, default UART bauds available, adjustable I2C Address (0x5D Default), and 2x Qwiic Connectors.
For further information and guidance, a variety of documents are available, including a schematic, Eagle Files, board dimensions, hookup guide, Arduino Library, Python Module, and a Github Hardware Repo.
