Adafruit Pimoroni Fan SHIM for Raspberry Pi

Looking for another way to keep your Raspberry Pi cool? Hook up Pimoroni's miniature 5V Fan SHIM and prevent your hard-working Pi from overheating. It keeps your Pi running at top performance and remains stealthy-silent.

The software activates the fan only when necessary, with an RGB LED status indicator. Designed for the high-power Raspberry Pi 4, it also works with the 3 B+ and 3 A+. The fan has a friction-fit header, eliminating the need for soldering. Installation takes less than five minutes; just mount it to the PCB with two screws and slip it into your Raspberry Pi's GPIO power pins for immediate cooling.

Note: You don't need a fan for your Pi as it will auto-adjust its speed to avoid overheating. The SHIM is ideal for instances requiring top speed for prolonged durations, such as machine learning, rendering, emulation, or video playback. If combining the Fan SHIM with bonnets, HATs, or pHATs, extra tall headers are advisable. A GPIO Stacking Header will work well. The Fan SHIM uses GPIO pin #18 for fan control, which is also used by I2S audio devices, so simultaneous use with I2S DACs like pHAT DAC or pHAT BEAT isn't possible.
