FSRs are sensors that detect physical pressure, squeezing, and weight effortlessly. The Interlink model 408 FSR offers a substantial 1/4-inch x 24-inch sensing region, effectively recognizing pressure anywhere along its strip. Note, however, that it doesn't pinpoint the exact location of the press.
Functioning as variable resistors, these sensors alter their resistance based on the applied pressure. While cost-effective and user-friendly, they provide general response ranges rather than precise measurements, with a potential variance of about 10% between units.
Ideal for projects requiring general pressure detection, FSRs aren’t the best for precise weight measurements. Made of plastic with crimped connection tabs, they can be connected via breadboards, alligator clips, or terminal blocks. Soldering is possible but risky; excessive heat can damage the plastic, so only attempt if confident in your soldering skills.
