The Arduino Pro Mini is a cost-effective solution, achieved by using all SMD components and a two-layer design. It connects directly to the FTDI Basic Breakout board and supports auto-reset. You can also use it with the FTDI cable, but keep in mind that the DTR pin is not brought out, so the auto-reset feature won't work. The board has a voltage regulator, allowing it to accept voltage up to 12VDC. If you're supplying unregulated power to the board, always connect to the "RAW" pin, not VCC.
The latest iteration of this board offers ADC6 and ADC7 pins, as well as footprints for optional I2C pull-up resistors! It proudly carries the Open Source Hardware (OSHW) logo, in recognition of SparkFun's commitment to the open-source community.
