Adafruit VCNL4040 Proximity and Lux Sensor - STEMMA QT / Qwiic

The VCNL4040 is an efficient two-in-one sensor that combines a proximity sensor with a range of 0 to 200mm and a light sensor capable of detecting from 0.0125 to 6553 lux. Ideal for precision tasks like gauging the height of a serene bumblebee or assessing ambient lighting conditions.

Its capability extends to adjusting the integration time to match the lighting environment for accurate readings. At a shorter integration time of 80ms, it measures up to 6553 lux, while a longer 640ms setting provides a range up to 819.2 lux, enhancing sensitivity and resolution.

Seamlessly compatible with 3.3V and 5V logic levels, the sensor's breakout PCB includes support circuitry allowing use with platforms such as Feather, Raspberry Pi, and Arduino. Communicating via the I2C protocol, the VCNL4040 eliminates soldering with its SparkFun qwiic compatible STEMMA QT connectors, promoting easy integration with microcontrollers using CircuitPython, Python, or Arduino drivers.
