Let your robotic dreams come true with the new DC+Stepper Motor Bonnet from Adafruit. This Raspberry Pi add-on is perfect for any motion project as it can drive up to 4 DC or 2 Stepper motors with full PWM speed control. We compressed our popular DC+Stepper Motor HAT into a compact, fully assembled package – plug and play ready, no soldering required! Raspberry Pi and motors are not included.
Works seamlessly with any Raspberry Pi computers featuring a 2x20 connection port. Since Raspberry Pi lacks many PWM pins, we utilize a dedicated PWM driver chip onboard to manage both motor direction and speed over I2C. Only the SDA & SCL pins are essential for driving the motors, and you can integrate other I2C devices or HATs on the same pins.
Connect multiple Motor Bonnets using the PHAT Stacker, up to 32, to control as many as 64 stepper motors or 128 DC motors (or a combination of both). The motors are powered by TB6612 MOSFET drivers with each channel boasting a 1.2A current capacity, with an option for up to 3A peak. Our drivers surpass L293D models, including built-in flyback diodes for enhanced protection.
A robust polarity protection FET ensures your Raspberry Pi and Bonnet are safeguarded from accidental battery/power terminal mis-wiring. You receive a fully assembled and tested Bonnet from Adafruit, ready to mount onto your Raspberry Pi. With these notable specs: 4 H-Bridges using the TB6612 chipset with thermal shutdown protection and internal diodes. Operates motors from 4.5VDC to 13.5VDC, handling up to 4 bi-directional DC motors with 8-bit speed selection, and up to 2 stepper motors with various stepping modes.
Generous terminal block connectors facilitate easy wire connections, supported by polarity-protected 2-pin terminals and jumper for external 5-12VDC power. Optimized for Raspberry Pi models Zero, A+, B+, and Pi 2, 3, 4, 5, etc., but a 2x13 stacking header is needed for model A or B. Install the Python library effortlessly and explore examples to get started. Comes equipped with an assembled Bonnet, terminal blocks, and an attached 2x20 header, but does not include Raspberry Pi, motors, or battery pack.
