Adafruit Ultimate GPS HAT for Raspberry Pi A+/B+/Pi 2/3/4/Pi 5

Offering -165 dBm sensitivity and 10 Hz updates, this module supports GPS + GLONASS, providing precision time and location data.

Specifications include:

• 99 search channels for fast positioning
• Built-in Real Time Clock (RTC) with a CR1220 battery slot that maintains timekeeping for over 7 years, even when powered off
• PPS output for precise timing
• Internal patch antenna for outdoor use and a u.FL connector for an external antenna when indoors
• Status LED indicating GPS signal fix

This HAT is engineered with a coin-cell holder for RTC usage and offers breakout access to Raspberry Pi's extra pins, along with prototyping space for custom configurations such as adding LEDs or sensors.

Note: The HAT requires the Pi's hardware UART for GPS data transmission; plan your connectivity accordingly by using an HDMI monitor or SSH network connection.

The module has been updated since July 2021, maintaining functionality with a trim 4 mm increase in height, requiring minimal software adjustments for antenna queries in ongoing projects.

Each package includes a completely assembled GPS + PCB and a 2x20 GPIO header, requiring simple soldering for attachment. The design allows easy integration for further expansion with compatible headers.

To facilitate shipping, a 12mm coin battery is not included. A locally sourced or ordered CR1220 battery will enable the real-time clock capability.
