With most of our dev boards, sensors, and feathers sporting plug-and-play stemma QT ports, assembling projects with multiple boards has become incredibly swift. This convenience, however, removes the breadboard as a mechanical substrate, prompting us to create a swirly grid design for easy mounting of microcontroller and sensor boards.
The grid comprises an "aluminum PCB" featuring a single-sided aluminum core without copper, and is covered in black soldermask with silkscreen. Electrically and thermally conductive aluminum warns against using metal screws, unless creating a ground plane is desired.
Each 0.6" x 0.6" square boasts holes or slots every 0.2 inches, ideal for a 0.1" grid fit. Holes are 0.1" in diameter, and slots measure 0.11" x 0.3", allowing diverse project constructions. Additional customization is possible through cutting, drilling, or machining the aluminum. Sized at 1.2" x 6", or roughly 37x150mm, this grid enhances project stability and design flexibility.
