An optical reflective sensor is an advanced electronic device blending an IR LED and an IR photo-transistor for precise detection. The IR LED emits light, bouncing back to activate the photo-transistor and increase current flow, effectively signaling the presence of objects.
The Adafruit STEMMA Reflective Photo Interrupt Sensor offers a hassle-free setup with no soldering needed. Power it with 3 to 5V DC and utilize the output pin to swiftly detect reflective surfaces. A green LED indicates power, while a red LED lights up when the phototransistor is active, both of which can be disabled.
Specifications include a TCRT1000 right-angle sensor module, adjustable IR emitter via a potentiometer (1mA to 100mA range), and a 10K pullup-bias phototransistor. When IR light isn't detected, the output signal remains high; with reflection, the voltage drops towards 0V. The device's plug-and-play JST PH input connector enables solderless integration with various electronics platforms.
