A Feather board without ambition is a Feather board without FeatherWings! This is the Non-Latching Mini Relay FeatherWing. It gives you power to control and control over power. Put simply, you can now turn on and off lamps, fans, solenoids, and other small appliances that run on up to 250VAC or DC power using any Feather board.
Using our Feather Stacking Headers or Feather Female Headers, connect a FeatherWing on top of your Feather board and let the board take flight. There are two 'flavors' of these FeatherWings. This is the simple Non-Latching relay. This Wing has a single Set pin.
Normally, the relay's COM pin is connected mechanically to the NC pin, and the NO pin is disconnected. When the SET pin is pulled high, the relay switches, connecting the COM pin to the NO pin while disconnecting NC. A red LED indicates activity, consuming about 50mA of current to keep the coil switched on.
If you're worried about power consumption, consider our Latching FeatherWing. It uses two pins but saves power by maintaining the relay's current state even when power is lost, unlike the Non-Latching version.
Both FeatherWings share the same relay family. You can switch up to 2A at 30VDC or ~40VAC or lower. At 110VDC, switch up to 0.6A; at 120VAC, up to 0.5A; and at 250VAC, up to 0.3A. Consult the relay datasheet for exact capacities, and remember to derate for reactive/inductive loads. This relay is ideal for switching appliances up to 60W; for larger 1200W loads, try our Power FeatherWing.
Each FeatherWing includes a fully assembled and tested PCB with a terminal block soldered on. We provide headers for easy attachment to your Feather. Some light soldering is required. Use caution with high voltages (> 24V); they require experience and adherence to safety guidelines. Explore our learn guide for detailed instructions on using both Non-Latching and Latching Mini Relay FeatherWings.
