Adafruit I2C to 8 Channel Solenoid Driver

Solenoids share many traits with cats—once you have more than one, you'll likely have a collection. For projects with multiple solenoids, the Adafruit I2C to 8 Channel Solenoid Driver offers an efficient, solder-free solution. Featuring an MCP23017 GPIO expander, this board makes managing up to eight solenoids straightforward.

This board maximizes flexibility with an I2C to GPIO expander, ideal for microcontrollers with limited pins. Connect solenoids to the terminal blocks, using a DC power supply from 3V to 24V. Each solenoid is equipped with its own AO3406 N-Channel MOSFET, rated at 30Vds, 3.6A peak, and 70mΩ RdsOn, while a flyback diode protects against inductive kick-back.

A red LED indicator signals when the transistor is on, and extra GPIO pins are available for additional functionalities like LED drivers or button inputs. Up to eight boards can be linked for a total of 64 solenoids, providing extensive scaling options. Compatible with both 3V and 5V power and logic, it seamlessly integrates with platforms ranging from Arduino-compatible Metros to Raspberry Pi.

The STEMMA QT and SparkFun Qwiic compatible JST SH connectors simplify connecting to your project, allowing easy sharing of an I2C bus with other compatible sensors. Though a QT Cable isn't included, a variety are available to suit your needs.
