The ANO rotary encoder wheel is a versatile interface element reminiscent of the original iPod's iconic scroll wheel. Although its pin-out can be unconventional, this PCB breakout makes it effortlessly compatible with breadboards by converting it into an easy-to-use header strip.
This product is the PCB for the ANO encoder, which must be separately acquired. The PCB does not include pull-up or pull-down resistors, and soldering the encoder onto the breakout is necessary. With its GPIO requirement of 5 for buttons and 2 for rotary encoder pins, it's designed for seamless integration with microcontroller libraries.
Common pins can be connected to ground or VCC—with ground being the usual choice to leverage internal pull-ups. Alternatively, you may wire them directly without affecting operation, simplifying your setup while embracing creativity in design.
