Level shifting chips enable seamless interaction between 3V and 5V devices, ensuring safety and compatibility. Unlike similar models, this particular chip excels at converting 3V logic to 5V, a necessity when interfacing devices like the Teensy 3 with NeoPixels.
Power the 74AHCT125 with 5V, allowing it to accurately interpret 3V logic. For connecting 5V logic to 3V inputs, simply power it with 3V, and it will process 5V input signals without issue.
Integrating the chip involves applying approximately 5V to the VCC pin, grounding the common ground pin, and connecting the /OE pins to ground. Data is input through the A pins and output through the corresponding Y pins. A wiring example is available for Raspberry Pi, but reviewing the datasheet for specific pinouts is recommended.
