This lovely little display breakout offers an exceptional way to incorporate a small, colorful, and vivid display into any project. It utilizes 3-wire SPI for communication and has its own pixel-addressable frame buffer, making it compatible with any microcontroller, even those with limited memory and pins.
The 2.2" display boasts 220x176 color pixels. Unlike the CSTN-type displays like the low-cost "Nokia 6110", this true TFT offers superior color quality and refreshing speeds. Powered by the HX8340BN driver, it displays full 18-bit color (262,144 shades) and ensures consistent compatibility with your code.
Featuring an attached TFT display via a flex-circuit connector, this breakout includes an ultra-low-dropout 3.3V regulator and a 3/5V level shifter, allowing usage with either 3.3V or 5V power and logic. Additionally, a microSD card holder is integrated, enabling easy loading of full-color bitmaps from FAT16/FAT32 formatted cards, though the card is not included.
In addition to hardware, a comprehensive open-source graphics library accompanies this display, supporting drawing pixels, lines, rectangles, circles, text, and bitmaps. Example code and a wiring tutorial are provided to ease integration, primarily written for Arduino but easily portable to other microcontrollers!
