DotStar LED strips offer a significant upgrade over traditional NeoPixel strips. Using a generic 2-wire SPI interface, they enable faster data transfer and negates the need for specific timing. Their high PWM refresh rates reduce flickering, especially at low brightness, making them ideal for Persistence-of-Vision (POV) applications.
The strips provide a consistent warm white light due to integrated LED drivers, achieving a superior brightness compared to mixed RGB whites. Utilizing two wires for data—clock and data pins—allows them to be controlled with any microcontroller or processor, from Arduino to Raspberry Pi.
This 30 LED-per-meter variant comes on a white flexible PCB with weatherproof sheathing. Easily cuttable with wire cutters, each strip features 0.1" copper pads for straightforward soldering. Compatible with multiple power supplies, they require a 5V DC input to function optimally.
Available in 5-meter reels, each strip includes a 4-pin JST SM connector. Ideal for creating monochromatic lighting effects or extending pre-existing designs, these strips ensure versatility in any project. Check the available tutorials for wiring guidance, power usage, and code examples.
