Adafruit MPL3115A2 - I2C Barometric Pressure/Altitude/Temperature Sensor

Description

This pressure sensor from Freescale is an excellent cost-effective solution for precise measurement of barometric pressure and altitude. The MPL3115A2 offers a typical resolution of 1.5 Pascals, allowing for altitude detection within 0.3 meters, competing closely with the BMP180's 0.17m capability.

It provides unique advantages over the BMP280, such as interrupt outputs for minimal power consumption and a straightforward altitude reading via its built-in altimeter, eliminating the need for calibration and calculations. In addition, a built-in temperature sensor provides ±1°C typical accuracy with a maximum variation of ±3°C.

The sensor is compatible with power and logic voltages ranging from 2 to 3.6V, mounted on a breakout board with a 3V regulator and logic level shifting for convenience. It's easily integrable with any microcontroller equipped with I2C capabilities, like an Arduino.

To use with an Arduino, connect the VDD pin to the 5V pin, GND to ground, SCL to I2C Clock (Analog 5 on an UNO), and SDA to I2C Data (Analog 4 on an UNO). Download the MPL3115A2 Arduino library and example code to access temperature, pressure, and altitude data via a serial console.
