Adafruit Wire Light LED Strand - 10 Red LEDs + Coin Cell Holder

Add sparkle to your project with these lovely silver wire LED strands. They utilize two silver wires coated to prevent shorting, with tiny 1000mcd LEDs bonded and epoxy-coated, resulting in flexible wires adorned with invisible "fairy" lights. These are simply LEDs in a fun new form factor!

Designed for versatility, each waterproof strand includes 10 LEDs placed 5 cm apart, forming a 2-foot-long piece of enchanting lighting. Ideal for outdoor or indoor use, just ensure the battery holder stays dry.

Specifications include a soldered and heat-shrunk double stranded-core wire at one end and a 2 x CR2032 coin cell holder with an on/off switch at the other. You can easily substitute this with your preferred battery holder by cutting it off and soldering your own connections. Ensure to scrape off the coating from the magnet wire before soldering.

Powering each strand requires 2 x CR2032 batteries, offering 8 hours of continuous illumination. While these strands have no built-in resistors, the internal resistance of coin cells allows them to run safely. For use with other power sources, calculate and add an appropriate resistor to prevent LED burnout.

Adapt these strands for different power supplies by considering the following resistor guidelines: use a 47-470 ohm resistor for a 6V supply and a 20-220 ohm resistor for 4.5V. This will enable optimum functionality without risking damage.
