Adafruit USB to Multi-Protocol Serial Adapter: RS-232 / TTL UART / RS-485

This USB to Multi-Protocol Serial adapter seamlessly interfaces with RS232, TTL UART, RS485, and RS422 protocols, offering versatility without soldering hassles. Connect effortlessly to a USB A port using quick-connecting screw terminals and a Phillips screwdriver for solid or stranded-core wire insertion.

Featuring the FTDI FT231 USB to serial converter, it utilizes 5V logic for swift data transfer rates ranging from 300 baud to 3 Mbaud. The RS232 signal, supported by a UM213 converter, operates at +-8V logic, handling up to 250kbps. The UART signals connect directly to the FT231, exposing RX/TX and 5V/3V/GND.

For RS485/RS422 protocols, MAX485 chips facilitate reliable data communication. Additional 5V and 3V power supplies are available, perfect for powering small projects. The adapter is equipped with red 'Power good' and green 'Data transmission' LEDs for intuitive status monitoring.

Note: The adapter contains a single USB-serial chip, allowing one protocol usage at a time. Compatible with most operating systems, it utilizes built-in FTDI drivers, with optional free VCP drivers if needed.
