Before SSDs or USB keys, there was the mighty floppy disk! These handy devices could store around a megabyte of data on a magnetic circle encased in a charming square shape. If you need access to those nostalgic diskettes, a 3.5" Floppy Drive is essential.
Please note that floppy drives are no longer manufactured. Any available drives are remnants from the 80s and 90s, complete with their own character—scratches, stickers, dents, and chips may be present. Most commonly, you'll find Sony MPF-920 models. These drives are tested to work with FAT12 formatted diskettes.
Each drive connects using a 34-pin IDC data cable and a "Berg" 4-pin power cable. Despite power cables having 12V, only 5V at approximately 2 Amps is needed. You'll require a compatible controller, such as a PC motherboard or Floppy FeatherWing. These drives do not have USB connections and require technical know-how.
