These hinged momentary step switches evoke the 16-step sequencer keys on TR-808 synthesizers, offering tactile interaction with a satisfying click. Often utilized in A/V equipment, they feature a built-in red LED for clear on/off indication or visual feedback with each press.
With four legs, the switch ensures mechanical stability. Designed as a momentary SPDT type, two of the four pins serve as the common, connecting to either of the remaining pins upon button activation. Refer to the diagram or use a multimeter on continuity mode for pin verification.
Note: These switches are incompatible with breadboards or perf-boards and require hand-wiring or PCB integration. The 3mm, 20mA max, 2.1V-forward-voltage red LED demands an external resistor (around 1K) to prevent burnout. Our LED guide advises on resistor selection, enabling PWM dimming from a microcontroller pin or connection to a digital output.
