These hinged momentary step switches are reminiscent of the iconic 16-step sequencer keys on TR-808 synthesizers, offering a tactile and satisfying click. With a built-in red LED, they provide immediate visual feedback, indicating the switch's active status.
Featuring a momentary SPDT configuration, two of the four pins act as the common connection, making contact with one of the other pins when pressed. For clarity, a diagram is available to identify the poles and throws. It’s advisable to use a multimeter in continuity mode for verification.
Though not breadboard-friendly, these switches can be incorporated into your designs through hand-wiring or PCB integration. The 3mm red LED, with a 20mA max current and 2.1V forward voltage, requires an external resistor—around 1K—to prevent burnout. Use PWM dimming with a microcontroller or connect it to a digital output for more control.
