
Perfect for a wide range of spectroscopy applications, the AS7343 excels in measuring reflected, emitted, and transmitted light. Its 14-channel, 5x5 photodiode array detects 11 specific color bands in the visible range, with additional photodiodes dedicated to near-infrared and flicker detection. This makes it suitable for tasks requiring precise color analysis or environmental light monitoring.
One of the standout benefits of this spectral sensor is its power efficiency. While actively measuring, it draws an average of just 210µA. For even greater energy savings, it offers Idle and Sleep modes, reducing power consumption to 40µA and 0.7µA, respectively. The entire board, without the white LED activated, consumes approximately 697µA, increasing to 4.26mA with the LED on.
Operating at 1.8V, the breakout board includes a voltage regulator to safely convert the Qwiic system's 3.3V to the required supply voltage. It also incorporates level-shifting circuits for I2C data and clock lines. The board is equipped with a built-in white LED to illuminate the sensing area, with the option for users to install their own LED if desired. Additionally, the board provides easy access to I2C signals and power inputs through Qwiic connectors and a 2.54mm-spaced PTH header, which also includes interrupt and programmable GPIO pins for enhanced functionality.
