The SparkFun Serial Basic Breakout is a user-friendly USB-to-Serial adapter, powered by the CH340C and equipped with the convenient USB-C connector. The USB-C connector offers up to three times the power delivery of previous USB generations at 1.5A and eliminates the frustration of correctly plugging in a USB cable, thanks to its reversible design. This Serial Basic Breakout is compatible with both 5V and 3.3V systems and can auto install on most operating systems without requiring additional drivers. The CH340C IC allows for quick and easy conversion of serial signals to USB.
The Serial Basic Breakout's pinout mirrors the common DTR/RXI/TXO/VCC/CTS/GND pinout seen on countless FTDI-to-USB derivatives, making it highly versatile. It can also be utilized as a general serial device for debugging, such as with a GPS module. The board features a jumper on the back that regulates the output voltage on the VCC pin. By default, the board outputs 3.3V and has 3.3V signals. However, adjusting this jumper to 5V will result in the board outputting 5V on the VCC pin with 5V signals.
The SparkFun Serial Basic Breakout is not only easy to use but also highly versatile and reliable. Whether you need to convert serial signals to USB or debug using a general serial device, the Serial Basic Breakout is a reliable tool. Its compatibility with 5V and 3.3V systems, along with its ability to auto install on most operating systems, makes it a practical choice for various applications. Plus, the convenience of the USB-C connector adds to its appeal, offering enhanced power delivery and a reversible design for easy connection.
