The firmware development is primarily conducted within the Arduino environment, utilizing the Arduino XBee® library from Digi. This integration, combined with SparkFun's extensive range of Qwiic sensors, expands the possibilities for creating diverse LoRaWAN® IoT sensors. The open-source nature of the pre-installed application further enables rapid customization.
At its core, the IoT Node for LoRaWAN® board features the RP2350 microprocessor from Raspberry Pi, supporting multiple development environments like Arduino, micropython, and the Raspberry Pi pico SDK. The board is equipped with 16 MB of flash, 8 MB PSRAM, a Qwiic connector, on-board LiPo battery charging, fuel gauge circuits, a microSD card slot, various IO pins, an RGB LED, and a user button. The Digi XBee® LR module for LoRaWAN® is directly connected to the RP2350, providing seamless control and access via the development library from Digi.
The XBee® LR module is the latest in LoRaWAN® technology from Digi, offering exceptional performance and ease of onboarding. Utilizing LoRa™ modulation, it ensures reliable two-way communication in long-range and high-noise RF environments.
