This thin, silvery ribbon is a versatile piezoelectric film sensor measuring 2mm wide and 600mm long. It efficiently detects motion or vibration, creating small current pulses upon touch or movement. Integrate effortlessly with microcontrollers by connecting one terminal to ground, the other to an ADC input, and incorporating a 1M resistor across both terminals to convert current to voltage.
Examples of usage include industrial robotics, where it provides tactile feedback to actuators, or as an innovative addition in wearable technology, seamlessly sewn into garments to capture movement data. Originally designed for sleep monitoring, this sensor can be placed beneath a mattress to track sleeper movements throughout the night.
The sensor features dual metal contact tabs with a 0.2" spacing, offering flexible installation options. Note that cutting the metal tab will make it non-reconnectable. Unlike typical rigid piezo disks, this thin, flexible version supports unique sensing projects over extended and adaptable surfaces.
