This warm-white glowy number is made out of COB (chip on board) LEDs, often seen in Edison-like LED bulbs, arranged in different patterns to give a bright, warm lighting effect. They're made of dozens of micro LED diodes that are bonded together on a stiff metal backing and then coated in silicone for protection.
Even though the LEDs are only placed on one side, the PCB substrate is very thin, allowing it to glow out the back too, although a little dimmer. Since the LEDs are in parallel, just 3V is needed to light them up. Current limiting is recommended with a resistor to let a maximum of 100mA through. Note that these are not flexible!
Despite this, they have a nice uniform glow all around and do an excellent job of mimicking a tungsten-like filament. Their lightweight design allows for easy attachment to various surfaces; they can be glued, sewn to fabric, or tied with fishing line. As they're essentially a big long LED, PWM dimming is a straightforward process.
Simply power them up with 3V by connecting to both ends. The cathode negative side will have a small minus symbol on the PCB; if it doesn’t immediately light up, try reversing the connection. Compatible with Arcade Button Quick-Connect Wire Pairs - 0.11" (10 pack) or solder/clip to the tabs at the bottom.
