Elevate your robotics venture with the Kitronik's compact 16 servo driver board, designed specifically for the BBC micro:bit. With this unique piece of hardware, you can simultaneously drive up to 16 Remote Control (RC) servos, thanks to its PCA9865 driver IC.
The driver board comes with an inbuilt Edge Connector for the BBC micro:bit, further enhancing its adaptability. The Expansion Pads facilitate the integration of this board with other compatible micro:bit accessory boards via the "Link" pluggable pin header.
Powering the board is flexible and convenient, with options of either a terminal block or a servo style connector. A handy on/off power switch ensures controlled power supply to the board. A green LED indicator shows when the board is operational. The board generates a regulated 3.3V supply that powers the connected BBC micro:bit through the 3V and GND connections, eliminating the need for separate power supply for the BBC micro:bit. Furthermore, the 3V and GND pins are also accessible on the Link header, enabling powering of external devices.
Kitronik has developed custom blocks for the MakeCode editor to make the usage of the Compact 16 servo control board for BBC micro:bit more straightforward. To add them to the editor, simply click the cog icon in the editor's top right, choose Extensions from the drop-down menu, type and enter "Kitronik" in the search bar. Select the Kitronik I2C-16-servo tile from the list, and the new blocks will be added to the editor's menu.
