This mini panel-mountable HDMI monitor with a built-in touchscreen is a versatile display solution compatible with any computer featuring an HDMI output. With its compact design, it's easy to attach to cases or rails, making it perfect for portable and embedded projects.
Featuring the TFP401 for video decoding, this monitor includes a plug-and-play 7” display with an 800x480 resolution. The TFP401, a robust DVI/HDMI decoder from Texas Instruments, delivers unencrypted video, providing raw 24-bit color pixel data, though HDCP is not supported.
The display is powered entirely via a USB port. At default settings, it draws 600mA total with the backlight on, which can be reduced to 400mA when operating at half-brightness. A PWM input offers control over the backlight, allowing continuous dimming for power optimization.
This version includes touchscreen capability, functioning as a USB mouse without requiring special drivers. Verified compatibility includes Mac, Windows, and Debian Linux, enhancing its adaptability across platforms. However, compatibility issues have been noted with Raspberry Pi + Windows 10 IOT.
Ideal for single-board computers or even desktops and laptops with DVI/HDMI output, it pairs especially well with devices like Raspberry Pi or BeagleBone Black. Power delivery is feasible via USB where supported, complemented by video input via HDMI.
It's important to note that the TFP401 decoder lacks a video scaler, so it will not resize or shrink video. Kindly reference available tutorials for resolution setup when using Raspberry Pi. Please be aware that HDMI and USB cables are not included with the purchase.
