Adafruit Conway's Game of Life Kit

Description

In 1970, John Conway developed a 1-player game called Game of Life, a mathematical simulation of 'colonies' that thrive or perish based on their surroundings. This simple electronic project brings Conway's Game of Life to life with a design that can adorn your desk or be expanded into a dramatic large display by attaching multiple kit modules.

Initially brought to life by Dropout Design, this revised edition comes packed with additional features. Suitable for both beginner and seasoned electronics enthusiasts, it's an ideal introduction to soldering and circuitry. Perfect for collaborative environments, participants can seamlessly connect their completed modules to form a collective display.

Specifications:

  • Each kit includes a 4x4 LED grid (16 LEDs).
  • Expand your game board by connecting any number of kits in various configurations.
  • Powered by 2 AA batteries (not included) with modification options for USB or wall power.
  • Features an On/Off button for power saving and display resetting.
  • Automatically resets upon colony death or stagnation, promoting continual gameplay.
  • Maintains compatibility with previous versions to ensure seamless integration.

Each kit arrives unassembled with all necessary components, offering a hands-on experience from start to finish.
