This rubber sheet, composed of carbon-black impregnated material, mirrors the conductive properties of our specialized cords. Customarily applied in EMF shielding and conductive gaskets, it also serves as an inventive stretch sensor due to its unique conductivity attributes.
In its relaxed state, it exhibits a resistivity of around 50 ohm*mm. When stretched, resistance increases as the conductive particles move apart. It can elongate up to 70% beyond its original length, returning gradually to its starting size. This makes it ideal for measuring motion, though not with pinpoint accuracy.
Sold in a 200mm x 200mm square, 0.5mm thick, this material readily conforms to different needs. Easily shaped with scissors or a die, it can function as a conductor. Pair it with a 100-ohm resistor and leverage our Thermistor tutorial for effective resistance measurement via analog voltage.
