The MKR ZERO is a compact and powerful board that combines the functionalities of an Arduino Zero with the smaller MKR size. This board is particularly suitable as an educational tool for learning about 32-bit application development. It features an integrated SD connector with a special SPI interface (SPI1), allowing you to easily work with music files without additional hardware.
The MKR ZERO is powered by Atmel 's SAMD21 MCU with a 32-bit ARM® Cortex® M0+ core. Like some other Arduino & Genuino boards, the MKRZero runs on 3.3V, meaning the I/O pins can handle a maximum of 3.3V. Applying higher voltages to these pins can damage the board.
Everything needed to support the microcontroller is present on the board; you can easily connect it to a computer with a micro USB cable or power it with a LiPo battery. In addition, there is a possibility to monitor the battery voltage via a connection between the battery and the analogue converter of the board.
