Adafruit Triple-axis Magnetometer - LIS2MDL

Description

Sense the magnetic fields that surround us with this handy triple-axis magnetometer module. Traditionally used to detect magnetic north, it can also measure magnetic fields. The sensor pairs seamlessly with a 6-DoF accelerometer/gyroscope to create a 9-DoF inertial measurement unit, detecting real-space orientation using Earth's stable magnetic field.

Built on ST's LIS2MDL, a versatile magnetometer offering a wide range and both I2C and SPI interfaces, this compact sensor excels in usability. With I2C, connect easily using our library to read magnetic field data or opt for SPI for alternative data reception. Sense ranges of ±50 gauss with no range-setting required, boasting high resolution at a 100 Hz update rate, or a 150 Hz output rate for less precision.

Compatible with 3.3V (Feather/Raspberry Pi) or 5V (Arduino/Metro328) logic levels, our breakout PCB with support circuitry simplifies integration. The I2C bus accepts easy connections, featuring SparkFun qwiic compatible STEMMA QT connectors for solder-free setup. Quickly interface with the LIS2MDL using our provided CircuitPython/Python or Arduino drivers for immediate magnetic measurements.

Fully assembled and tested, it includes 0.1" standard headers for breadboard or perfboard use and features four 2.5mm mounting holes for easy attachment. Access comprehensive guides, including code, schematics, and wiring diagrams, for seamless usage.
