Adafruit Red 7-segment clock display - 0.56" digit height

Design a clock, timer, or counter into your next project with our vivid 4-digit seven-segment display. This bright and crisp display is perfect for adding numeric output to a variety of applications.

Featuring four 7-segments and decimal points on each digit, it includes an extra wire for colon dots, ideal for time-based projects. Operating at 18mcd brightness, you can reduce current usage for energy efficiency or increase it to 20mA for maximum brightness.

The display is multiplexed, common-cathode, allowing you to control it with either a 74HC595 chip or 8 microcontroller pins to handle the 8 anodes (7-seg + decimal) at approximately 15mA each. To manage the maximum of ~160mA per digit, use NPN transistors or a TPIC6B595 for efficient cathode control.
