The Adafruit S-35710 Wake Up Timer redefines low-power efficiency with its reliable 'watchdog timer' capabilities. This chip offers a digitally-configurable alarm ranging from 1 second to 194 days, enabled by a sophisticated 24-bit second counter.
Ideal for ultra-low-power projects, this timer serves as a dependable alternative to traditional real-time clocks. It engages easily: program the timer register via I2C, and the chip counts up from zero, toggling its OUT pin to signal when the set time elapses.
Operating at a mere 0.2µA, the chip's output is open-drain with an optional N-channel FET for polarity inversion. It initializes with the OUT line set low, making it ideal for watchdog functions rather than low-power management. While it cannot self-reset, it excels in signaling after extended intervals or within complex power schemes.
Streamlining integration, we've crafted a custom PCB in the STEMMA QT form factor, ensuring seamless connectivity. Compatible STEMMA QT connectors provide solderless interaction with the S-35710 and other components, utilizing SparkFun Qwiic I2C cables for a hassle-free setup.
