The VEML7700 lux sensor simplifies your illumination measurements by calculating lux, an SI unit for light, ensuring consistent readings across multiple sensors. Unlike traditional sensors that detect ambient light head-on, this right-angle sensor perceives light parallel to the PCB, enhancing versatility in various applications.
This sensor offers a broad 16-bit dynamic range, detecting ambient light from 0 to approximately 120 klux, with a resolution of 0.0036 lux per count. With adjustable gain and integration times, you gain precise control over light detection.
Facilitating ease of use, the sensor is mounted on a breakout board complete with support circuitry and connectors. The I2C interface supports Qwiic and STEMMA QT connections, minimizing setup complexity and eliminating soldering requirements. The flexibility extends with libraries available for Arduino (C/C++) and CircuitPython (Python 3), allowing compatibility with a range of devices, including the Raspberry Pi.
