This compact 2.8" display for the Raspberry Pi offers a resolution of 320x240 with 16-bit color pixels and comes with a resistive touch overlay. Ideal for dynamic display needs, it connects via the high-speed SPI interface, making it suitable for use as a console, X window port, or for viewing images and videos.
Seamlessly mount this display on top of your Pi, specifically designed for the Pi 1 Model A or B, while also compatible with Pi 4, Pi Zero, Pi 3, Pi 2, or Pi 1 Model A+ or B+. Keep in mind the 5mm PCB overhang over USB ports. For modern Pis with a 2x20 connector, consider the PiTFT 2.8" Plus to avoid overhang.
The display utilizes hardware SPI pins along with GPIO #25 and #24, leaving other GPIO pins available. Additionally, there's space for four optional slim tactile switches linked to four GPIOs—a useful feature for creating basic user interfaces like power buttons. Note that the switches are not included and require basic soldering to install.
The product comes fully assembled, ready to plug into your Pi. Leveraging a custom kernel based on Notro's framebuffer, the setup allows smooth installation over Raspbian images with a few simple commands. Guided tutorials cover software installation, calibration of the touchscreen, and the process to display videos and images, including those captured from a PiCam.
