The NeoPixels utilize an 800 KHz protocol, requiring accurate timing. Their PWM rate of ~400 Hz sometimes makes movement visible, unlike DotStars’ smoother 20 KHz. Nevertheless, NeoPixels are versatile with a 5050-size LED carrying an integrated microcontroller.

Installation is flexible; cut lines every 1.7 cm, adaptable shift-registers for resizing, and lightweight, pliable PCBs with weatherproof casing.
