This Adafruit MCP23017 I2C GPIO Expander Breakout offers seamless plug-and-play functionality with built-in passives. It features 16 GPIOs, each with a matching ground pad, making it a formidable choice for expansion projects.
Operating effortlessly at both 3V and 5V logic and power, each GPIO supports up to 25mA output, perfect for driving LEDs. They can function as inputs too, with optional pullups, and the pair of configurable IRQ pins eliminates the need for I2C bus polling.
With three address pins, connect up to eight expanders per bus, totaling 128 GPIOs on a single I2C line. While PORT A pins A0-A7 are digital I/Os, they are not analog inputs. Solid libraries for Arduino and CircuitPython, along with example codes, ensure easy setup.
Included are two header sticks for breadboard compatibility, while the custom PCB in the STEMMA QT form simplifies interfacing. Compatible with SparkFun Qwiic I2C connectors, it allows for solderless connections and seamless integration with other sensors using a compatible cable. Note: QT Cable not included.
