Adafruit LSM6DSO32 6-DoF Accelerometer and Gyroscope

The ST LSM6DSO32 is a sophisticated Accelerometer+Gyroscope 6-DOF IMU that offers impressive performance. Like its predecessor, the LSM6DSOX, it maintains the same pinout and firmware but surpasses it with an accelerometer capable of reaching up to 32g.

This sensor provides six degrees of freedom with three degrees of linear acceleration and angular velocity. It offers flexibility in its settings: For the accelerometer, choose between ±4/±8/±16/±32 g with an update rate from 1.6 Hz to a robust 6.7KHz. Likewise, the gyroscope spans ±125/±250/±500/±1000/±2000 dps at 12.5 Hz to 6.7 kHz.

A host of additional features make it more versatile, including built-in tap and activity detection, a pedometer/step counter, and a programmable finite state machine/machine learning core for gesture recognition. Connectivity is straightforward with SPI or I2C options and two configurable interrupt pins. External I2C/SPI ports accommodate extra devices, convenient for optical image stabilization tasks.

To facilitate seamless integration, the sensors come on compact breakout boards with voltage regulation and level-shifted inputs, making them compatible with both 3V and 5V systems. Libraries are available to simplify integration with platforms like Arduino/C++, CircuitPython/Python, and Raspberry Pi. For ease of use, I2C connectivity requires just two wires plus power and ground.

Complementary SparkFun Qwiic compatible STEMMA QT connectors eliminate the need for soldering, though QT Cables are sold separately. Simply connect to your preferred microcontroller, such as the STM32F405 Feather, using a plug-and-play cable to obtain 6-DoF data efficiently.
