Adafruit LiIon or LiPoly Charger BFF Add-On for QT Py

Is your QT Py longing for a companion to explore beyond its USB tether? This LiPo charger is the perfect travel buddy, designed to snugly fit any QT Py board and ensure effortless portable power.

Simply connect a standard 3.7V/4.2V lithium polymer or lithium-ion rechargeable battery using the JST plug. The charger activates when your QT Py is powered by USB, charging the battery at a 200mA max rate, indicated by a glowing yellow LED.

Remove the USB, and the battery powers the 5V port via a Schottky diode. The built-in slide switch provides easy power control. Utilize the voltage divider to detect charging modes: over 4.3V indicates USB power, while 4.2V or below suggests battery operation, aiding in battery state assessment.

The package includes a tested PCB and header for QT Py soldering. Compatible with Adafruit LiPoly/LiIon batteries, other battery types may vary. Ideal for charging single Lithium Ion/Lithium Polymer 3.7/4.2V batteries, excluding older 3.6/4.1V variations. Batteries and QT Py are sold separately.
